Oklahoma University Medicine is comprised of several different components, each of which serves a distinct purpose in delivering premium health care while promoting research and innovation. Medical care is provided through three different divisions: The Children’s Hospital, OU Medical Center, and OU Physicians. OU Medical Center boasts state-of-the-art equipment and technology, as well as a qualified staff of physicians and specialists. The Children’s Hospital, which is housed at the facility, possesses specialized instruments for treating children. Care throughout the state is facilitated through OU Physicians, a comprehensive group providing virtually every medical specialty.

One of the cornerstones of the OU Medicine network is the College of Medicine, which prepares future physicians to combat a broad array of diseases and disorders. More than 1,200 students and postgraduate trainees are currently enrolled at the institution. In order to meet the growing needs of the medical system, the college offers an assortment of degree programs related to various specialized aspects of medicine. In addition, unique programs examine the connection between medicine and other disciplines, such as humanities, law, literature, and international studies. The OU College of Medicine operates on six core objectives that guide the curriculum and structure for the institution: patient care, medical knowledge, systems-based practice, experience-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, and professionalism.
